Microchips in the usa: where are they?
(1 minute read)
Every smart device or vehicle needs a microchip to enable high-tech functionality (think heated car seats and self-driving mechanisms). Without these chips, eventually every economic sector will ripple like a domino effect — from factory to retailer to consumer. This is already happening here in the USA, with inflation driven even higher by the chip shortage.
Now the U.S. government has decided to step in. The CHIPS Act will flood the U.S. semiconductor industry with tens of billions of dollars to fund research and domestic manufacturing. President Joe Biden even paid a visit to South Korea for the first-time last week to seek relief during the global chip crisis.
“MICROCHIPS WERE INVENTED HERE IN THE US. BUT NOW, ONLY 12% ARE ACTUALLY MADE HERE.”
According to one source, 0% of the most sophisticated chips are made here in the U.S. Instead, they are made in China and Taiwan.
Some of America’s largest automakers – Ford, General Motors and Chrysler – have been forced to slow or stop production entirely. The auto industry will lose out on making and selling approx. 1.2 million vehicles this year, costing around $210 billion!
The situation is growing dire, and many companies are scrabbling to find reputable suppliers and/or raw materials. So, what’s the solution?
WE MANUFACTURE NUMEROUS SEMICONDUCTOR chips, or MICROCHIPS, FOR THE AUTO INDUSTRY!
Our factories are well-equipped and ready to supply industry-leading car chips and more. We provide every necessary tool to drive our society forward.
